Happy Holidays

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it! We did the turkey thing a couple days late because Jonathan likes to take his time. Mickey & Guess were certainly having a good time scarfing the kitchen floor while he was working as he would drop something from time to time.

Mickey snoozes on Guess while they await access to the kitchen.

We did lock them out sometimes to keep them from getting any raw onion though. Remember, raw onions, raw garlic, grapes, raisins and chocolate are all not recommended for dogs. In large quantities they can be quite toxic or even deadly. Mickey apparently took the opportunity to get a little shut-eye … right on TOP of Guess… I’m really surprised she tolerated that.

We are expecting our first major snowfall of the season with a Winter Storm Warning calling for 6-8 inches of the fluffy white stuff. Nothing has started yet, but the sky looks ominous to say the least. The shibas always enjoy a frolic in the snow!

Lastly, consider sending a gift to your local rescue or shelter if you can, they never get a holiday from rescuing dogs. We recommend and support MSIR at www.shibarescue.org in our area.

George Heitzman had a stroke while on an airplane flying in for the Lake Shore KC shows. Last I heard he was stable, but please keep him and his wife Barbara Dempsey Alderman in your thoughts and prayers.

always useful, but please remember that although some of the articles reference dogs being off-lead, we specifically do NOT recommend ever letting your shiba off lead in an unconfined area

Truck driver gets a :(  and a sincere wish that he will either put his girl on a lead or leave her safely at home.

from Jeni Hill (fundraising@shibarescue.org)

There’s still time to order from the Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue holiday bulb fundraiser. This year the overall top seller will receive a “Shibas Rule” embroidered tote bag filled with goodies. Simply fill out the volunteer salesperson box with the name of the Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue volunteer you’d like to receive credit for the sale.

All items ship directly from Breck’s to the customer, so no need to follow up with them after the sale. To order your bulbs, visit

http://shibarescue.org/fundraising/brecks

Sales end November 21st, and flowers will begin to ship the first week of December.
